I planted in October and with the mild winter we've been having here in Chicago, I already have growth on my daffodils? What can I do to get them to go dormant until spring?

Nothing you can do, the mulch is a good idea. Here in South Australia they start blooming in early winter and go through the whole season, even in areas with quite heavy frosts. Maybe throw some protection over them if it looks like snow.
If it continues mild, be happy! Nothing quite as cheery as daffodils on a grey wintery day - they really brighten up our winters.

it is common. Planting spring bulbs interior the autumn whilst the soil continues to be heat, provides the muse device a wager to strengthen in the previous the snow comes. they'll submit some leaves too. yet to no longer difficulty, the bulbs won't die and could bloom only nice next spring. the 1st time I planted tulip bulbs and that they did that, i grew to become into apprehensive. yet then I remembered that those flora have been doing this for millennia. They understand their job. they are going to be only nice. I only divided my iris rhizomes and replanted them some weeks in the past, and that they are sprouting new leaves. this is a alleviation with the aid of fact I surely have in no way divided and transplanted Irises in the previous. in case you get decrease than freezing temperatures the place you're, as quickly as you have a heavy frost, mulch your beds nicely and watch for spring.

Nothing really. Next year make sure you Mulch them when it starts to freeze so the ground does not thaw and they grow.
