She found out that I spent more on my girlfriends gifts than I did hers. I thought it was all about the thought?

Jerk, you are not suppose to have girlfriends and buying them gifts are just full of disrespect to your wife.
She is hurted by you, by you selffish, selfcentered behaviors, and she doesn't deserved this type of abusive treatment, and you certainly don't deserve a woman, a wife who truly trusted, and loved you.
I hope that someday, you too will feel the same hurtful emotional abuse that you have done to your wife. And maybe, you would turn human agian!

It is all about the thought and you clearly were not thinking at all. What did you get your wife that was so obviously amazing and unique that it just had to cost less than the supposedly insignificant gift you gave a "friend"? I'm trying really hard to think of such an amazing gift, but I can't. You messed up bad and should make up for it quickly by either getting more gifts for your wife or taking her out for one hell of a fancy date to show her that you really do think she's the most special woman in your life.
