Divide the years by the number 4, and the only ones that come out even are leap years.

although your question has been answered being 2008 is the next leap year...I read on the internet awhile ago that leap year was supposed to be skipped in 2000...which I thought was interesting

In future, if you want to work out leap years on your own, the rule is as follows :
Every year divisible by 4 is a leap year, EXCEPT
every year that is divisible by 100 is not a leap year, EXCEPT
every year divisible by 400 is a leap year.

Every 4th year will be a leap year from now until 2100, which will not be one.
