It's terrible when a private citizen can lose their land so that the government can give it to a private developer, but there is something even more evil and insidious happening among the poeple who are attempting to "correct the problem."

The worst part of this is the cynical "fixes" that many states have come up with. Large businesses and polluters are putting fourth laws trying to make it so eminent domain doesn't apply to them but they are masquerading as helping the little guy. After they are through, it will be much harder to force large businesses to make changes for the public good by threatening them with emminent domain seizures. Already several states have approved voter initiatives that give polluters, miners and ranchers the ability to sue the taxpayers any time their businesses are impacted by perfectly reasonable emminent domain issues.

We are still living in the feudal system. The King(The Federal Government) Owns all the land, his Barron's and other nobility(State and Local Government) manage the Kings land. The Serfs(99% of the population) work the land for the King giving 70% or more of what they produce to the King. Owning land is ILLEGAL, I say again OWNING LAND IS ILLEGAL. The King may give you a deed saying you own some land but what happens if you don't pay the property tax? The King sends his soldiers(The IRS) to kick you off the land and will have some other serf manage that piece of land.

Think about it, we are all slaves, it's just most people don't know it.
