Terms are sometimes used ambiguously.

I assume from the terminology you have used that you're in the US.

OK, you still have your ovaries.

Normally, the cervix, or neck of the womb, is removed as part of the womb. However that means that the vagina (in the strict medical sense of the term, meaning the tube from the cervix to the outside and not referring to the external female genitals which should be referred to as the vulva) is shortened, because the end where the cervix was has to be drawn together and stitched up strongly. Therefore sometimes, if there's no question of the cervix being malignant, it may be left and the rest of the uterus cut away from it, in order that the woman may keep a normal vagina.

In other cases, where there is malignancy evident in the cervix, not only is the cervix removed but a cuff of vagina as well, resulting in the vagina being significantly shortened.

In some instances, especially where there have been prolapse problems and the patient is older, vaginal ablation is carried out -- the cervix and vagina are both removed and the former entrance to the vagina sewn up so that there is no opening at all.

Once a hysterectomy has taken place, of course, the vagina serves no medical purpose whatsoever, but where it is not removed is left in position merely to allow the woman to accommodate a penis in a comparable way to what was possible previously.

My Dr. told me I had the option to keep my cervix but at the last minute they found cancer cells and had to take it. Having no cervix has had no effects for me however I do know so women who have had issues

By above I meant the first answer. :)

easily, get a 2d opinion ideal away. that's what i could do. I even have had severe ovarian issues (cysts) and till my ideal ovary became bumped off the soreness became a relentless concern (i became interior the er actually the different month as a results of quantity of soreness). in case you're doubling over in soreness after a partial hysterectomy, i could difficulty that there continues to be something happening in that section. in the adventure that your ovary is enlarged, there's a rationalization for it. in the adventure that your wellness care expert can not or won't pay attention to you, you certainly would desire to take concerns into your guy or woman palms and bypass see somebody else. i'm hoping this seems nicely...sturdy luck.

In a partial you still have everything except the uterus. The cervix is left unless cancer is suspected. In a radical hys., everything is taken out.
