It's a sad thing, but you have the power to change things.
Men are different from us. They like the competitive nature of sports and a good debate. So, watch it with him. This only happens once a year - and once the college bowl games are over and the BCS title game has passed, you'll have the whole year to plan something fun to do with hubby.
Here's how I fixed it... My hubby is a sports junkie. He moves from football to basketball to baseball to golf any time. It seems like our life is a giant sports game. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I offer snacks during the game. Bring him beer, or juice, or soda, with chips, and healthy snacks and good hot bites. I sit on the couch next to him either with a good book or under a blankie and put my feet on him. He will typically rub my feet for a few seconds at a time.
That's the way you get your man to do something you like, yet let him feed his hunger for body-slammin.
Also, I encourage him to play golf on weekend mornings (he will typically get up earlier than I do and be back by 10:00.) That way I can either sleep in or take a short trip to the nail salon for beautification... :)
You can do it. There is something in it for you too. Don't give up on him, and don't fight him. You can do this!!!
Go be happy!

Hell No! She will be there after the game. There is a lot more time in the year to spend with her when football isn't on. What kind of biotch would want to come between a man and his football game anyways. Sounds like she is just asking for an argument. You never see men come between women and their housework.

In this guess because its once a year..I think you should let him sit in front of the tv. He works hard for you and the family, YES?..so let him have a day to himself.
Take yourself out..go have some fun of your own.

I don't mind watching sports with my husband. We make bets on who's going to win. It can be fun.
