Well I love video games but I'm not ready to take the plunge on the new systems. So I am planning to buy a used Gamecube for now to tide me over until prices come down. However, I was walking around Best Buy and Gamecube this weekend and noticed that shelf space for Gamecube games is getting smaller. Is Nintendo already planning to discontinue selling Gamecube games already?

Knowing that they made Zelda: Twilight Princess for Game Cube, I doubt there going to stop making Game Cube games. The 'Game Cube Rush' has slowed down since the Wii came out, but don't worry, the Game Cube console should be fine. I have seen a few reviews on this, and the Game Cube will keep making games for sure into the year 2009 and hopefully much, much more. Hope this helps, and take care.

I wouldn't expect Nintendo to sell Gamecubes nor Gamecube games much longer, and the new games they come out with are likely to be budget/ crap titles anyway. They haven't made any official announcements or anything like that but it wouldn't surprise me if they discontinued that system even by the next E3 in May or so. There's just little reason to continue on when there's only about 20-22 million Gamecubes sold worldwide. Most third party companies looking to sell budget software will just go with the PS2. Also, the Wii is doing well enough that Nintendo should just switch their focus to the new system. Having said that, there's quite a few good titles that've come out in the past five years, so even if no new games were to come out the old games would be new to you.

Since the release of all the new systems , and nintendo's release of the nintendo wii , nintendo's focus has changed radically from the nintendo gamecube ( a couple of new games will be relased but around the range of 5-20 before nintendo discontinues them ) , because now nintendo is solely focusing on marketing the nintendo wii so that it does well on the market as compared to the new ps3 , and xbox 360 (its main competitors ) . If you are opting to stay with the trends and new games you would be better off with a new system , if you still prefer the gamecube be sure to look around atpure videogame stores , and be sure to buy fast , as gamecube games are disappearing a a fast rate .Good luck .

Soon. they want to make sure that people go out and kill and rob each other in order to sell a higher priced machine. you'll be able to get game cube games at used game shops cheaper now, but remember as soon as you make the final payment after financing and mortagaging your house for the new system, it will be outdated and you will need to add a second mortgage just to pay off the bill for the compatable hd tv to make the game look better, then again, that will be outdated also, when you upgrade to the next generation of console aftter this one. Be smart and wait until there is a market glut of these overpriced machines and the price drops as it did for all the machines before it. Besides if you have the time and money to buy all this, you are either well off or still living in mom's basement and need to get let go of Mario and Zelda and look for a life in the real world.

I wouldn't think so. All the gamecube games are backwards compatible with the Wii. I have a Wii and Zelda- Wind Wakers (or whatever it is- it's really my husbands game) and the resident evil games work on it just fine.

If it were me, I would save up and get the wii. The gamecube controller works with it. Plus, the wii has much better graphics than your gamecube does. So, your games would look a little nicer.

You can always check gamestop or ebgames too. They sell used games.

Don't buy a gamecube. I have made that mistake before buying a gameboy advance right before the sp came out. It is such a bad choice. The Wii is a much more exciting system than the Gamecube will ever be.
