My boss is writing me a recommendation letter, so she's not done with it yet. Should I give her a envelope with the college address on it and let her mail it off or should I mail it off myself. Also, should I mail everything together, the recommendation letter with the application and essay?

There should be instructions on the college application website which explain how each institution wants this handled. Many educational institutions have forms which you can print out and give to people writing references/recommendations after you fill in your specific personal identification information. If you are sending the reference letters separate from the application, you should provide each person writing a recommendation with a business size stamped envelope with the name (if available) and college address typed or printed. You can use a label for this, but do not handscribble the address. Having your references sent directly from the writer to the college administrator shows confidence and trust. Feel free to ask the writer to keep a copy or give you one, just in case the original goes astray.

It varies from school to school. Some have their own form that needs to be completed and mailed back in a provided return envelope by the one providing the recommendation. This assures that it wasn't tampered with by the applicant.

Other schools will let you have the one writing the recommendation do so on any piece of paper they wish, and you can submit it.

Your admissions packet or the college admissions office will definitely let you know how to handle it. Not following the right procedure can result in not gaining admission!

If the application comes with something for your recommenders, fill it out with your appropriate information and give it to her. My recommenders sent them out themselves, but if you get it from her to send yourself, ask her to seal it in an envelope and sign across the seal. This is to show that it hasn't been tampered with (ie, changed by you to improve your image).

I would send everything together. Easier for admissions.
