I really need to know what the imperius curse is and what it is used for. If you don't know please tell me the other 2 unforgivable curses (one of them is "Avara Kedavra" or the killing curse)

Avada Kedavra
A corruption of "abracadabra" which was used as a healing spell to drive disease from the patient's body in the Middle Ages. Its likely source is either the Arabic "abra kadabra" (may the things be destroyed), or the Aramaic "abhadda kedhabhra" (disappear with these words).

The Killing Curse. It requires a strong bit of magic behind it; the incantation alone is not enough for the spell to work. When cast effectively, Avada Kedavra kills instantaneously, producing a blinding flash of green light but leaving no mark on the victim's body. There is no way to block or counter the Killing Curse, and the only people ever to survive it are Harry Potter and Tom Riddle. Avada Kedavra is one of the three Unforgivable Curses and its use against another human being is punishable by a life sentence in Azkaban.

Crucio
Latin for “to torture”.
The Cruciatus Curse. This inflicts severe physical pain on whomever it is cast upon. To effectively use the Cruciatus Curse, the witch or wizard casting the spell must have the genuine desire to cause pain. When effectively used, the curse is excruciating and has the ability to drive victims insane. As such, it is one of the three Unforgivable Curses. The use of this spell against another human being is punishable by a life sentence in Azkaban.

Imperio
From the Latin "impero," meaning "to give orders, rule, hold sway," or "imperium," meaning "power to command, rule, control." The Imperius Curse. This is used to control the actions of another person, leaving that person at the mercy of the spell caster. The experience of being under the curse is described as a fantastic sense of release, until the victim starts to fight back. The curse can be fought, and its hold broken, but many witches and wizards are unable to do so. Because of its very dangerous implications, the Imperius Curse is one of the three Unforgivable Curses. Use of this curse against another human being is punishable by a life sentence in Azkaban.

Hope this helps.
Chris

The Imperius curse is one of the 3 Unforgivable curses, the spell is "Imperio", and it's a mind controlling spell. The other one is the Cruciatus curse, the spell is "Crucio" and it causes intense pain (this is the spell used on Neville's parents to cause them to go insane). And it's Avada Kedavra, not Avara Kedavra.

The Imperius curse forces your victim to do whatever you want - for example, lie, steal, hurt a loved one, etc. The word for the spell is "Imperio" (from the root word "imperious," meaning forceful or demanding). Only a very strong will and determination can break or resist the curse.

The second Unforgivable curse is, as you mentioned, the Avara Kedavra, or the Killing Curse. The phrase comes from the Aramaic language (spoken in Jesus' time), meaning "let it be undone/unmade." There is no way to resist this curse - Harry is the only person known to have survived it.

The third Unforgivable curse is the Cruciatius curse, the torture curse. It puts the victim through excrutiating pain. The word for the spell is "Crucio," from the word crucify.

Imperius curse is used to control someone. By saying Imperio, you can make a person do anything. (for e.g. throw himself out of the window]

Cruciatus curse can cause a huge amount of pain. By saying crucio, you can torture a person to death.

The killing curse ofcourse, kills. By saying Avada Kedavra, you can kill a person instantly.

These 3 curses are unforgivable. Using them can lead a person to Azkaban[wizard prison]

the imperrius curse makes the person be in a state of trance and the person who cursed can command the victim to do anything and they will do it.
There are three unforgivable curses, "Avara Kadavra" the one that kills, "Crucio" makes the victim suffer horribly, and "Imperio" the one that I just told you.
