I like it! I would spell it differently though....How about Avey, Avie or Avy? Another option is always Aven, or Ava. Pick whatever seems right but it is a cute name! Very feminine.

It's cute, but I think consistently being asked how to correctly pronounce it would quickly get old and ultimately cancel out the cute/uniqueness.
I think Avery might be a nice alternative.

If you have to define/explain at least _two_ things -- pronunciation and gender -- you are at least two steps away from a good name.
