The only answer so far that got it right is peter's. You, as a living organism and human being will create in your mind whatever it needs to survive. To be blunt, you are making your own phantasms, and people do this all the time, some for solace, some out of fear. This is completely normal. We do this because there's nothing absolutely certain subconsciously. You just have to realize those are products of your mind (beneficial or harmful). Then, you can walk around day to day comfortably but understanding _real_ danger still exists. It's a balance thing. People also sometimes think they are abducted by aliens :) You don't have to worry about imaginary kids tugging on your blouse. Well, you can, if that floats your boat; meaning, if it makes you accept reality better.

My word yes! I've buckets of this sort of stuff, some quite rare; and oh how I believe! If living the life is any indication of effect caused by belief then they work because I have the most wonderful luck in life. It's rather a shame that I'm so bored most of the time, but You can't have it all I guess and I'd rather be bored in all this opulence then go back to the exciting adventures that I used to have when I was poor and homeless. Take care and all the best for a happy new year.

I do only because if you believe something enough, it will work. It's all mental. But having a postive outlooks usually results in positive happenings. So I'm all for good luck charms!

Yes. I am mostly superstitious, so I like the trinkets and artifacts associated with this side of life. But I also "believe" in Guardian Angels, so I guess that may be part of why I like charms and artifacts.
Overall I find it easier to believe in Spirits than I do in believing in a Theistic God.

No, such items only give (believers) confidence. Although I do not think that they improve luck, the idea of having something lucky helps people muster up the courage to do something they are worried of failing at

in a way I guess I do. as long as I have love of my GOD, family and friends I have all of the good luck I need. photographs, drawings, sketches, etc. are reminders of those whose love provides the good luck I need.
