I can't see how you could own up to something you didn't do. If you did it, apologize to the person who was offended, and tell her that you said it but you did not think it would be repeated. My take is that if you have a good friend and you tell that person something in confidence it should not be repeated. Like having an opinion --people are not supposed to see what you have in your mind. Forget the "friend" in the meantime.

Beat up? This might desire to be some college baby tiff we are speaking approximately. Chalk it as much as adventure, assume the friendship is over as the two certainly one of you screwed up -- your chum became the lower back stabber and you ran your mouth off once you will possibly desire to not have -- and flow on with your existence.

Apparently when you said it you meant it, so own up to it, and defend yourself. Lose the friend for good too. Be more careful in choosing them.

that's not a white lie, that's just a lie. A white lie is telling someone her shoes are cute when they look like the ones your great aunt was buried in

if you really dont want pple to know what you sed, id act that she is just making the whole thing up.
if she says it infront of pple and u r there, just look at her as if shes mental and what she is sayin is completly new to u. if somone laughs, just laugh wit them and say somthin like "yea, she does com up wit a load of bull s**t sometimes dnt she?"
hope everthing turns out ok

I'd own up to it...if the personw as my "friend", they might be mad, but they'd get over it and still be friends. If they didn't get over it, then they weren't really my friend after all, and I'd feel great knowing that!
