Ok so my neice is flying with her boyfriend this summer. The question we both want to know is she is 18, he is only 17. His parents dont have a problem with the flying. But When they fly do they have to get his parents signiture or since she is 18 is that ok? They just dont want to drive anhour to the airport with them. Thanks for any information!

Some airlines have crazy rules. You need to call the airline they will be flying and confirm. You are quite right, you don't want surprises at the airport. Of course, their are the obvious things like picture ID and passport if leaving the US.

Generally, there is no problem for a 17 year old to fly alone. Flying with someone older may actually introduce the problem, but if they list seperately, shouldn't be a problem.

they should be fine. If she's 18, they could allow them to go because he is 17(technically a minor) and is with an adult. I would call the airport to find out more, just so you don't get a suprise when it's time to go.

The airline I have used for my children's unaccompanied trips required an unaccompanied minor fee up to the age of 14, and it was an option after that. Once my oldest hit 16 she and her younger sister flew frequently without issue.

They don't need a parent signature to fly at 17. Just make sure he has photo ID (drivers license or passport).

I think he needs a legal guardian to fly with him. I don't think his girlfriend counts as a legal relative but check with the airline that your niece and her boyfriend are going through.
