I'm not independent at all. I depend on my mom or dad for almost everything. It's a new year and I want to be independent and not depend on everyone but myself. Does anybody have any tips or advice on how I can do this and succeed?

In order to be independent from your parents, you need a source of income that is separate from them. Your alternatives at this point are working at a job where you make enough to pay for living expenses such as rent and food or to go to college where you can live on grants and loans until you have graduated.

You did not say how old you were or what exact sort of independence you need from them. If you are older and already live on your own then you will want to learn how to live within your means so that you do not need to turn to them to help you out financially.

If you are talking about emotionally then you will want to look for some friends that are apart from your parents to whom you can seek emotional support from.

Well Tina it all depends on how old you are. Anything below 16 then you have no choice but to stay with your parents.
In todays society the best thing is to stay with your parents for as long as you can, (It`s cheaper)
There is nothing to stop you becoming independent and stay with your parents when you`re bringing some money into the house, you can then start to pay board, you`ll probably have your own room ?? you can make it into a little bed sit.
There will still be rules that you`ll have to adhere to while you are still living with your parents, but in the long run you can start to save money which you won`t be able to if you leave home.
I left home at 27 moved into a small flat, I was very grateful to my mother for letting me stay at home while i could afford somewhere of my own.

well how old are you ,do you live at home,do you work,
there is not much that can be said but tell your parents this and ask them not to do so much for yuo then you have to.you just have to do it that all and learn along the way yes will make mistakes just like all of us did and your parents but if you want independent you have to take the first step Good luck
