Vaginal temp is pretty accurate. Don't do a rectal. Doctors are advising against this due to risk of Rectal Perforation, very easy to do. Doesn't sound like she is too sick.

I don't think you are doing it right! I have never herd of a vaginal temperature. For your baby you need to be doing a rectal temperature. You will not need to add anything to this temperature. What it says is your child's temperature.

you shouldnt be taking a vaginal temperature. you should be taking it rectally if its a newborn, (core temperature)and whatever the rectal reading reads, is her temperature. anything over 100 you should call a doctor. Ive never heard of anyone taking a temp vaginally, and would advise against you taking a temp this way.

From under the arm, you add 1 degree. Rectally, subtract 1 degree. But, I have been told by my doctor and nurses that you should only call the doctor if the temp is 100.4 or more rectally.

You should be taking the temperature rectally, or Under the armpit if you can get the child to sit still enough.

I think you are taking the baby's temperature from the wrong spot.
