I was at a New Year's party and someone bumped into me, spilling a red wine I was drinking onto the cuff of my white button down shirt. Luckily it didn't get many other places aside from a drop on the front of the shirt.

Immediately after it happened, I got some seltzer water from the bar tender and tried to get as much out as possible but the stain is still noticeable.

OXYCLEAN!

It works!

Either that or bluing (If you can still find it?) it brightens and cleans whites without causing the yellowing that bleach can.

Salt and white wine are supposed to help red wine stains but I think you need to put that on when the spill happens. White wine is magic though - the red spill just disappears!

if you wet and spray the stain with hair-spray and put it in the freezer
for a while, it will lift the stain, then you could use a bleach pen to clean it , a dry cleaner could also help you out with it , as long as you can pay the bill

bleach works, but if you over bleach it or let it sit too long , the shirt will turn a sickly looking yellow

My wife had the same problem while we were at our friends, They felt so bad that they washed the shirt. Saturated the area with a peroxide cleaner and then just placed it in a load of whites with bleach. The whole sleeve came clean. The bad part, didn't know that I had gotten a bit on me, and washed and dried my shirt before seeing it.

clorox bleach, but you should have soaked it in cold water immediately or used sprite or tonic water so it would not have set in.
