I am a 6th grade teacher & have seen this several times before.
First off, don't ASK if he has his homework done... Ask to SEE his completed homework.
Second, have a binder for him with a 2-pocket folder for each subject where he can keep his class notes and handouts in one side & his homework in the other side. The very first item in the binder should be an agenda where he writes down what his homework is for each subject every day. If he has no homework, he much write no homework, not just leave it blank. You must check his agenda & see the completed homework every night.
If he's still coming up with missing assignments, that means he's not writing down the homework assigned. If that happens, have him write the homework in his agenda in pen & take it up to each teacher to sign at the end of class (so you know that's the correct assignment written down).
THIS WORKS WONDERS!

Most schools have a homework hotline that works by phone or web site. Have your son bring home all books each day. Check the homework hotline to verify his homework and it's completion. If he completes all of his homework give him a small reward. You may find out that he is completing his assignments but forgetting to turn them in. In that case, I would speak with the school guidance counselor, who can problem solve with his teachers. I feel that a B report card grade is okay but you may want to address the homework problem now. As your son gets older, their will be more homework and more responsibility. Get him on the right track now.

Well i think that you should give him a folder and put incentive in his back pack like 1 to 2 pieces of sugarfree candy but make sure it tastes good. Give him the folder and then tell him to give it to the teacher everymorning. The candy will keep it open minded also there is a little more. Explain to him that he will get a toy every other month if he turns in his homework. If this doesn't work then you might have to turn it in yourself!. It happen children forget b/c they are still developing

ok well my friend does the same thing. he says it is because the homework is so easy it is a waste of time. of course that doesn't make sense. maybe if u talked to him about the importance of homework and how it really does help. Ans maybe you can reward him with something small at the end of the week or a specific time. You might think it's a bribe, but sometimes he just needs motivation. Also he might be getting distracted: computer games, TV, radio, friends outside playing. Talk to him about it.

My suggestion is this:
I know you want him to be independent and manage his work... but since he is telling you he has done his homework, but then continues to not turn things in or get things signed by you that he needs to have signed... you need to take a more firm role in making sure these things are done. Explain to him that you can see that he is getting a lower grade in his class because of some things that he is just not getting done the proper way. Tell him that you are going to help him develop better habits about homework, studying and turning in his things on time. Then start to check EVERY single day to make sure that his homework is indeed done.... everything is signed... and everything is in his bag to turn in the next day. Check to make sure that nothing that needed to be turned in was left in his bag from the previous day. Remind him EVERY day of the things he has in his bag, to turn in. Let him know that you will continue to do this until he can consistantly do it without being told. You may want him to be able to do it himself... but he may not be able to without you building a little more structure in his life.

My brother has pretty much the same thing, and he is in sixth grade too. What I would recommend doing is writing a note to all of the teachers that you want them to write all homework assignments in his assignment book (or a notebook). Then, make him show you everything on the list so you can make sure it is done. Finally, I would make him keep all of the completed assignments in a manila envelope to make sure that he doesn't lose them. Good luck.

Tell him that homework is easy points. Just do it and you will get a 100% A for just doing your work. This will motivate him to do his homework more often.
if that doesn't work, then prohibit him from doing watever it is that he is doing, when he should be doing homework. Shut off such things as T.V., internet, video games, phone, playing outside.

It's OK, B are perfectly fine. Although A's are better, you'd better not punish him for anything. first, give him a goal to reach, such as 4 A's, or whatnot, and set a reward that both of you agree on. Then when he reaches that goal, give him the reward! Worked for my son perfectly.

this is completely normal, my brother went through the same thing...
talk to his teachers and ask them to remind him to turn stuff in
if it is becoming a major problem try having his teachers sign a planner or agenda everyday that he turned in his stuff
