No, you cannot get into trouble for using a radar detector in your car. It is actually legal in all States except in five States, find out the five States on the internet and don't use it there. Happy New Year.

It depends on the state. In some states it is illegal to posses a radar detector. In some states the laws are written that make it illegal to use a device to interfere in police activity. You might be required to prove that the device was off or incapable of functioning when you were observed.

Not unless you have a State Law prohibiting the use of Radar detectors by the citizens.

As most people said it depends on the state, but also it depends if the possession of an illegal device is enough to form probable cause to make a traffic stop. Many states are changing seat belt laws to meet probable cause by itself (rather than in conjunction with another offense - such as speeding).

if USING the detector is illegal, you must also check to see if you can be cited for merely possessing one. If not, then NO they can't stop you and cite you. Great Question.

The laws governing the possession of a radar detector vary from state to state. You need to check for your state. They were illegal in CT and VA and perhaps some other states.

Many radar systems are illegal in any given state, but usually some are allowed. If you aren't supposed to have it, that's bad. If you are out of state where it isn't allowed, turn it off (you can explain it to the policeman, and he'll probably understand).

No, because radar's are legal in most states. The only two states I know the radar's are illegal is Connecticut and Virginia.
