My husband is going to Vegas tomorrow and I was wondering if the taxis there take any type of credit card (preferrably Amex) or if it is cash only.

Although some cabs take credit cards, you never know which ones they take until you waste your time. Some things are better paid for with cash and this is one of them.

If you simply need a ride from the airport to a hotel, you may be better off taking a shuttle. One way fares are from $8 to $11, with round trip fares (if offered) going from $14 to $20 (better buy). If you want the roundtrip fare, simply ask for it and pay for it. Just keep the ticket until you need it to go back to the airport, even if it is a few days later. You will get a receipt if you ask for one.

If you are staying on the strip, you will also have the monorails to get around. The city operated monorail is the only one that you have to pay for, the others are free.

Most cabs take credit cards all over the world. The most accepted ones are of course Visa and Mastercard. When you call a cab, ask the dispatch. Or before you even get in the cab. Ask the driver.
There are many ways to get around in Vegas, the monorail, walking and by bus. The concierge of the hotel he will stay in will tell him the best way to to get to his destination

I know this is not much of an answer but it depends. I travel a lot and use my Amex exclusively so I just make sure they take it before I get in. Most cabs are independent contractors so you have to find one that does.
