"The pen is mightier than the sword"

What so many people forget is that their words can cause more damage than a physical wound. Like any weapon, one should be wise and skillful with how they use it... but so often we forget this when it comes to what we say.

In general, I believe it is best to always be extremely careful in every word spoken, especially when its during an argument... its ok to disagree and become irrate about something, just so long as nothing personal or hurtful is brought up... those who follow this, can have the biggest fights ever, but have nothing to hold against eachother afterwards. But sometimes its not always easy, especially when the one who opposes you does not follow such principles, and so often you don't realize when its time to walk away until its too late. Sometimes, even though what you said might not have been meant in the wrong way, the timing, circumstance, and interpretation can cause it to backfire all the same.

I told a guy that I had been dating for about two weeks that I loved him while we were...um busy...and I didn't mean it (it was the passion of the moment, and I got caught up in it all). Unfortunately, he took me seriously, and said he loved me too. Afterwards, he started talking about our life together and making plans, but I freaked out because we'd only been dating for a short time. Basically, it killed the romance, and the sex was no good afterwards, I felt too guilty. I'll never do that again.

Called a woman the "C" word once. What a HUGE mistake that was. That will never happen again no matter what is going on or being said.

YIKES!

Yes. I told my bf that we should take some time apart when we were in a big fight. I just said it to get a reaction and never meant it literally. He really took it to heart....and was really upset!

Yes, more than once! I always promised myself I would never say. "If you really loved me..." But he made me angry once and I did and I have never forgiven myself for that.
