Why do you think that atheists believe that? I'm an atheist but know that my dog only lacks a voice and a thumb to be human. Actually, I'm glad she's not human - I prefer animals over humans; they're incapable of NOT forgiving.

Scientifically proven facts...
-Dogs can and do smile-I assume because they are happy
-Dogs who bark a lot are lonely and unhappy
-Chimpanzees, apes, and monkeys have just as many facial expressions as humans-I assume the feelings they have are about the equivalent to humans feelings, in type and in depth; some have even used sign language to say they are happy, sad, etc.
Where the heck did you get the idea that Atheists don't think animals have feelings? We use logic and scientific facts fit right into that logic, since science is based on logic.
However, it is also logical to eat animals...they are made of meat and taste good. Meat is also high in protein; protein which is absorbed by the human body better than protein from vegetable matter. Logically, animals are meant to be eaten. Also, humans are considered omnivores. We eat both plants AND animals. We even have a full set of teeth designed just for that purpose.
Likewise, if I am eaten by an animal one day, I consider that to also be perfectly natural. It goes both ways. Would you ask the animal why it doesn't believe humans have feelings? Logically, THAT question is moot as well.

I am an atheist, and an animal lover, and I DO believe they have feelings. I have met alot of people who are religious, and have no respect for animals. I don't find this questions too accurate.

how come you didn't just say, "PEOPLE who don't believe animals have feelings, why do you think that?" I don't think that is just an Athiest thing.

GOOD QUESTION BUT ITS SOME OTHERS AS WELL,,NOT JUST SOME ATHEISTS.ANIMALS DO HAVE FEELINGS & LOVE IN THEIR HEARTS.MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD I WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO REALIZE THIS & STOP ALL ANIMAL ABUSE.BLESS YOUR HEART.
