If we managed to have a democratic & caring world government that tackles all issues of cooperation, trade, pollution, smuggling, military issues, international crime, 3rd world development, etc, and the provinces, towns and counties could take on budgetary and legal autonomy over all local issues and all issues they wish to legislate on, would the world be a better place in the end?
What do you guys & gals predict would be most significantly better or worse?

I don't think countries can ever be abolished; too many vested interests by the upper classes of the respective countries.
But i think it would be good. Fair distribution of resources and global control of pollution.

That isn't possible with everyone in the world being imperfect. We all have faults and failings so to with people in power, no matter what is for the best it wouldn't suit everyone so we would still have people disatisfied with the way things are run. And who would be the ones to decide who should have the power to decision make? How do we know what people are truly like? We cannot read hearts so as to determine whether or not someone else has our best interests at heart.

There is no way you can tackle all of the wold's problems. But what you are proposing would mean taking from the haves and giving to the have nots. Nice idea, but are you willing to give away 2/3rds of your assets and sending them to the 3rd world? If that were to happen, what incentive would there be for someone like me to work at all? I would just wait for the government to send me my share as a have-not.

In a perfect world, sure. However, why should one country's hard-working citizens support lazy ones in another part of the world?
It's bad enough that we have to do it for our own citizens. Do you realise that YOUR lifestyle will significantly decrease under your scenario? You have access to a computer, so I'm assuming you enjoy many other such luxuries like clean running water, heat, air conditioning, cable television, etc.
If you want everyone to be equal, you will have to come down to their level.

I predict it would be much worse. Instead of unifying as one world people, people woould turn to smaller groups, like what is happening in Iraq...familial or neighborhood or church or other basis for groupings. There is no sufficient cause yet for humanity to consider itself one in any cause or belief. Only if our very survival as a species is at stake would it be possible.

It's the nature of humanity that makes countries needed my friend. You may not know it but this idea is straight out of the Communist manifesto. Goes against all human nature, history shows us this beyond doubt if nothing else.

there will always be a powerful force in control.
Even with true freedom there would be those who want more and those who need to protect us from them so they would have more control . Total freedom is a dream that could never work. And humans will always be jealous of something

which would be an entire shame. i don't have faith the government for secure practices and that i actual do not have faith them with my freedom. i'm keeping all of my weapons and there is not something they might do approximately it. in the event that they prefer to take my 2d modification rights than i choose a conflict. Veterans fought confusing for the people, not the government. and those in a position will gladly combat lower back for his or her people alongside with their people.

shut the fu*k up who dumb ***. you know that is never gonna happen. There are two many forms of government that arent gonna allow one force to dominate and control what goes on in their countries. who the f8ck gives any one the right to legislate over any other country alien to our selves.

It would be a nightmare. Look at the U.N. It is a miserable failure, a feel-good, do-nothing collective of bureacrats.
Just imagine if that same world-body governed everything!
No thanks!
