We are no more divided than ever. Just ask any older American. They have seen much worse.

We do need to stop being so afraid of the voice of people who disagree.

Well, the whole point of the Civil War was to preserve the Union. But it's seems like an interesting idea. The problem is that as much as the Liberals hate "The Red States", I doubt they would be able to get along without them - they are the states that produce a lot of food (wheat, corn, soybeans and meat) also the states that produce coal, oil and other things needed to produce electricity. "The Blue States" are net consumers, and while the Liberals might think that places like L.A. and NYC are the most important places in the country, you can set up corporate headquarters in a lot of places. I think the Liberals would not like it at all if the working people of this nation were to split off.

To quote Mr. Franklin, "A house divided against its self cannot stand." First of all, the states are not absolute. I mean that each state has both liberals and conservatives, so to make such a drastic action would mean herding people out of states and into another. Also, there are so many moderates out there, like myself, who would hate to be classified with either group. Lastly, if our nation were to split up, imagine how we would look to the rest of the world. Also, and more importantly, America is a strong world power and the world greatly relies on it for everything. The earth could go into a worldwide depression if this were to happen. You're not an idiot for thinking of this idea, but the repercussions of separating the country would be too great.

the outcome of the Civil War , or as Southerners like to refer to it the war of northern aggression, brought this nation under one flag . Thus uniting us as one Nation. If the US were to break up into different "countries' it would weaken us and make us easy targets of occupation.. We don't have to agree with one another all the time.. But as 9/11 proved , when attacked we unite and defend what is ours, and this country belongs to the citizens of The United States of America not a political belief or party...

Newsflash: Not every single US citizen has a black and white view of politics.

Why don’t we have a neutral government that would make the far-left and far-right sit in their corners until they learn how to play nice?

OK. But liberals can only live in California, the land of fruits and nuts.
