Actually, Mel Blanc has the most film credits (more than 700!). He was the voice of Woody Woodpecker, etc. John Wayne holds the record for leading roles in western films (142), but Adoor Bhasi has the Duke beat hands down with 549 Bollywood films before he died in 1990.

There are a lot of actors today that have been in more movies than Samuel Jackson. I think even Morgan Freeman has got him beat. I know Gene Hackman and Michael Caine have him beat by a long shot. Probably even Nicholas Cage.
