why are people so messed up?

that people prefer to give Sylvia Browne money for false readings
instead of praying, mourning the loss and letting go?

why is it that people prefer to buy a new car almost every 5 years
and then complain that the roads are congested?

why do people like playing the lottery
but never give one dollar to plant a tree or sponsor a child because they don't want to be scammed?

why do people protest the banning trans fat to congress
but not the threat of global warming?

why do people believe in religion but laugh at the idea of extraterrestrials?

why do people hate being stereotyped but then go and act according to their stereotypical behavior?

why am i asking this if i don't expect any good answers?

1) She offers them a false sense of hope. Some people don't know any better so they would like to hear an answer rather than have to wait for the truth.

2)As a society, we have become more dependent on new technology. New cars offer luxury and a sense of dependability. Actually we can only drive one car at a time so I can't see how this one fits in.

3)They play the lottery because they have a chance to win money, where as planting a tree or sponsering a child reaps benefits of another kind but only in time. People like to see results immediately. Kind of goes with #1.

4)Again, Our priorities as a society are lost .

5) This one has always baffled me. If they believe in a creator, then aliens are a possibility. After all, thats what a creator does is create!

6) Behind every stereotype there is always a little bit of truth.

Because, you are like a lot of other people who want to believe only in the things that makes you happy. only in the things you know must have a clear explaination to it. When you have something that is explained to you, and you are satisfy with that explaination, you tend to keep that for yourself as a positive reinforcement. So, that is why people talk to Sylvia Brown, that is why people believes in religion, but not aliens (because, apparently, they do not believe that God himself could make a set of planets-from 1 galaxy-and make other things the opposite of humans). Why do people play the lottery? Because, to some people, what can the tree do with that dollar, what can a person do with that dollar for that tree, and a child may never get that money because the person responsible for that money may have kept that for themselves. At least with the lottery, even if you win $2 from it-you get to see that $2. You do not see that tree grow or that child for that matter, grow.
Everything has to do with what you want for yourself. You want the tree to grow, you want the child to eat and learn and grow, but, you want better for yourself-whether it is health wise, money wise, spiritual wise or materialistic things-for you.

I completely understand where you are coming from. Why do they complain about the government but not vote. Why do people adopt from overseas when there are more than plenty of babies here that need homes. Why do we prosecute child molesters if they are going to be protected in prison and given more rights than we have!!!!
