There are many many reasons, more than the average person knows, but yes the genes we get from our parents is a big one, sometimes surgery leaves scars that can affect us, there are medical problems [even benign ones- ones that dont hurt us but keep us from conceiving], std's can make a person infertile [diseases you can get from having sex], and outside influences- like radiation, etc. etc. It is a hard thing to deal with I bet.

Yes, infertility or being infertile is the correct term. There are many different reasons (male and female), some of which can be corrected through treatment or lifestyle changes, others cannot be corrected and could be genetic. Check out the link below for some common reasons for infertility.

There can be many causes of infertility.
A man could have a low sperm count, which lessens the chances that a sperm can survive the long journey to the egg.
A woman could be annovulatory, meaning that she does not produce any eggs to be fertilized. There can also be problems with her uterus being strong enough or capable of supporting a fetus.
There are many more reasons that people cannot have children. Some are genetic and some are caused by things that we do. Some forms of birth control, like the Depo shot, have recently been linked to some forms of infertility.

Just like everyone else said it depends on the person. As far as I know it can be because of the male or female. Webmd is a good site to check out and ask medical questions because there are a lot of reasons why some people are infertile.

Something just doesn't work right with either the female or the male. It could be low sperm count with him, or that she just doesn't ovulate. There are many countless reasons as to why a couple is infertile.

It can be either the sperm of the mans is not enough or strong or maybe the man cannot take out the sperm. It may be a problem of the womans egg, not strong too or she might not have egg or the rute for the eggs is closed

Barren women in the Bible had their wombs opened by God. The Bible teaches "without a cause, a curse does not come."
Try fasting and praying for a baby. God still answers prayers.
