Dear friend,
there is a huge difference between indian and western culture.
if you are the one who is asking- which one is the best then, i would say indian culture.
some may not agree with me, but if you give a thought- then you might find me right.
Indian culture has given many things to mankind. and it is worth appreciating and thanking it:-
1. manners like respecting parents, teachers, etc, evolved from indian culture.
2. the aspect of seeing god in all- statues, stones, human, animals arised from indian mythology.
3. it has been also proved that the indian ceremonial fire- Yagna, gives many benefits to the surroundings like, clean air, peaceful atmosphere, etc.
4. various sciences like arthematic, geometry, astrology, astronomy, medicine and even physocology has been studied by indian saints.
5. surprisingly- none of the facts written in vedas has yet been proved wrong or incorrect.

i agree the features like caste system, sati, etc are wrong practices. but the fact is this also that the caste system was evolved during the later stages of krishna and not before that. sati doesn't even have a record in Veda.
the biggest flaw in indian culture that badly developed in so called Kali yuga was the authority of Brahmins, who made the rituals as they liked or what was favourable to them- even now for example: bhramins donot do "sathya narayana puja"- which cannot be performed without a brahmins in other houses.

some of the powerful advantage of indian culture compared to western:-
1. indian scientists- "saints", researched in nature and developed technology for the betterment of human life. they researched over their discoveries and invention for years and then only distributed it to humans. scientists of today have become selfish and are running after fame, and wealth.
2. indian culture of respecting elders and learning spirituality and life science gives us a way to live life and not like western people who live like animals- having sex with anyone including sisters, etc. forgetting parents and elders, doing anything they like.
3. we have our own form of exercise and medicine that is flawless compared to other science and has no side-effects.
4. Sanskrit is the mother of all languages, which is so complex and huge that many things can be described and learnt from it.

i don't say western culture is bad, but it is not good..... the bad things like rape, sucide, drugs, and tissue paper in bathroom stuffs evolved from western,,, not to mention about lesbian, gay and AIDS.
westerns have a lot to learn from us and we too have some good things to learn from them..... but it doesn't mean that we should run after the culture and tradition which really doesn't suit us.

the ulitmate decision lies in the ego inside you that will decided which one is more worthy to compete the other.
with best wishes
ram

Indian Culture Vs Western Culture

The true Indian Culture (which is sadly missing nowadays) teaches an individual to respect others, be sober and consequently less demonstrative, sense of togetherness. Western culture (because it is not so old as the Indian culture) is more materialistic, individualistic and to a certain extent vulgar. The current trend is to ape the western culture as if everything about it is good.

Culture means customs or civilization of a particular time. Also improvement of mental and physical growth

Family and its values is the key part of indian culture, which does'nt exists in western culture. Being in a family, giving love to your loved ones and respect to your elders, is the root of INDIAN culture. Sorry to say, but family does'nt exist in reality except in terminology, in western culture. Either people hv live-in relations or they get divorced, if they r not compatible with each other. So, how could a person in their right mind hv mental peace in such an environment, where relationships r breaking every other day.

Because of the lack of family values and existence of a family life, people end up doing drugs, crimes etc. Even studies and research also proved that western civilization suffers more from depression and emotional disbalance, than there eastern counter parts.

and i m really sorry for those, who thinks that indian culture is shitty.

People talk about the rights of women in India. No doubt these rights are not like the rights in Western countries. But people forget to appreciate that still there exist some thing known as morality, decency and dignity in woman culture, society and conversations.
There is still a family system for which the west has become orphan. Still there is respect for love for parents as they are kept, taken care, respected in the houses of their sons and daughters ~ against ~ the traditions in west ~ dumping them in old / senior houses.

The culture of India is one of the oldest cultures known to humanity. In modern India, there is remarkable cultural diversity throughout the country. The South, North, and Northeast have their own distinct cultures and almost every state has carved out its own cultural niche.

Western Culture refers to the culture that has developed in the Western world. This culture is arguably the dominant cultural form in the modern world; it can also be said that elements of this culture have come to play a more influential role on more diverse cultures world-wide than any other culture has done. It is, however, an ill-defined and disputed term, and "Western Culture" has arguably undergone significant changes over the centuries. ...

Indian culture abuse their rights.

Western abuse the environment

Indian culture tolerates corruption, violence.
Western culture instigates corruption and violence in other parts of the world

Most Indians are afraid of bloodshed not because of ahimsa
Western Culture loves to kill or instigate killings

Most Indians love corruption.
Most Western hate corruption and if they see it try to punish.

Most Indians when they reach the top they think they are god and treat other people as their slaves.
Western culture does not do that, they treat every body with respect , even if he is Janitor

My Dear Friends,

I am some how littlebit aggree with radpaikar but not fully
He is saying about Indian culture but how it is possible that the country born in last just 100 yers ago can have this kind of culture India is born from western culture. The name given to this country is from western countries his orignal name was Bharat and how it is possible to say that Bhartiya sanskriti is just like western culture there is big difference in between this two. The sanskriti of Bharat is made from prakruti and purush and it is depend on them to free the soul (actual me - aham bramhas mi the ultimate freedom of life) this is only possible by going through the eight steps of yoga to clear seven chakras.
But in western culture is giving the priority to body freedom and not the soul (atma), they are totally depend on body so if they get freedom from everything still they are the servent of the body they are using so they can achive the full freedom.
Bhartiya sanskriti tries to protect the body and allows to free the soul
and my friend you are saying india who is following the path of western culture so it is totally different

I am just only aggreed that the people who followed Bharatiya sanskriti are still living in India that does'nt mean it is the Indian culture.
Indian culture is that culture which the country follows and it is western not Bhartiya
Here all laws are made by western culture and not by Bharatiya Sanskriti.

Bharatiya sanskrities laws are much more different than the current laws

Here you are saying Sati pratha
actual sati pratha is yogagni of internal body if any person achive the full freedom of his life he or she have rights to say goodbye to his body and it is still possible in this days as well. For this pratha in the previous days there are certain rule and regulations which was changed due surrounding in last 2000 years In this years there are lots of changes happend and no one was there to stop it, so to protect womans degradation they allowed sati as with her husband. In current days it is not like that That say they live without there husband as well it also there a part called vidhava which was not so simpler on that days because of muslims and other dynasties.

Second one is cast it is too lengthy to explain and I may confuse you in some what manners because befor to learn cast program you must to know your internal body system then only anyone can understand the cast system it is not so simple as other thing is it is too delicated in this sanskriti and it is only for body dependancy and no meaning for soul thats why here saints are available in every cast to free the cast peoples by achiving full freedom of life

In Bharatiya sanskriti which is born from Hindu Sanskriti which is also called sanaatan sanskriti because this sanskrit is born from nature that is prakruti and purush
prakruti which is always changing just like four tatwas pruthwi, jala, agni, and vaayu and the purush is always steady and it is having the fifth tatwa which is aakash who is handaling every thing

I don't think so western can accept this kind of culture in there life any way
Any one who accecpt such kind of life he will be Hindu by default because Hindu's are not depend on bornship but karmyog

(there might be some mistakes in spelling or grammer so please forgive me for this)
