Congratulations. My wife gave birth to our first son in September, so hopefully my fresh memory will help.
1) A nasal aspirator will be good to have on hand in the first few days especially, since he/she will have a hard time swollowing. 2) A&D Ointment or Desitin Cream for diaper rash.
3) A book called "What to Expect: The first year." Best baby book out there. The only one you'll really need.
4) Stick to practical clothing over fancy outfits to start off (onesies, footy pajamas). It'll make life a lot easier the first couple weeks it takes to get used to being a parent.
5) If you're breastfeeding, then you'll want breast pads and Lansinoh cream. My wife was in horrible pain during the first week of breastfeeding. A nipple shield may also be a good/inexpensive alternative, but it may hinder your baby's ability to latch properly without it.
Also, it may not hurt to prepare for the unexpected. In other words, buy premie clothing and necessities, but don't load up too much on anything in smaller sizes yet. Especially newborn diapers and clothes. My son was surprisingly large when he was born and has remained consistantly above the 100th percentile in weight & length for his age. He was 9 lbs. 7 oz. at birth, and now at 4 months old & 21 lbs., he's has outgrown all of his 0-3 month, 3-6 month, and almost all of his 6-9 month clothing. We have a ton of clothes and cases of unused newborn diapers that we never got to use.

I know I put this in my answer about my younger brother's school, but the thing is - every child has to bring a bin and no one is told it's for community usage. Teachers just reach in to another box and grabs something. It would bother me to know I'm supplying other kids with school supplies that are expensive enough. The amounts of things they ask for are so insane anyway, and half the things don't get used. It was never this way when I was in school. Could you believe my brother's back to school list has 3 calculators on it ? 3 ? What does an 11yr old need 3 calculators for ? I think the school should just go back to sending out the basic list, and let parents figure out the amounts. No kid needs 10 boxes of coloured pencils.

We always started with a car seat then the bassinet or crib ,then we would start with the small stuff like monitors, stroller , clothing , diapers wet wipes , lotions ,baby bath and tub .There are so many things that children need it is hard to get everything so it is OK if you forget something as long as you have the basics in the first few days you can figure out the other things as you go along

The high chair can wait. You won't need it for a while and in the meantime it will just take up space. I highly recommend an Exersaucer at about 5 months of age. They are pretty neat. I also recommend a babysling from babysling.com. They are a lifesaver
Also take the snowsuit back. Get a baby bundler. They are made of Sherpa or wool and fit right around the infant car seat and keep baby warm instead of bundling the baby up in a big suit. Most of them come with a cover to put over their face to keep out the wind. Oh and buy baby wipes- alot of them.

You need an infant carseat. You will not be allowed to bring the child home from the hospital without one.
Also I suggest a bouncy seat.
You have some Pampers size 2 diapers, which will be great, but you need smaller ones. Your baby will be in newborn diapers for a few weeks and then move to size 1.
I like sleep sacks (wearable blankets) for babies to keep them warm and snuggly at night.
Do you have a baby bathtub?
Check out babycenter.com, they have lots of info about what to buy for babies.
Good luck!

Your going into panic mode.....take a deep breath. You have bought items you aren't going to need or use for months yet. my first daughter is 2year old and I'm 32 weeks pregnant with my 2nd daughter, due 1st march. As long as you have the essentials, nappies, baby grows, wipes, sudocream, vests, socks, hats, blankets, moses basket, pram, baby bath, sponge. Everything else you can get after a days of giving birth. Once you have had your baby you will want, so much, to go out and show off your little bundle. As you start your roll as a mummy you will come across things that you want and need. Keep a pen and paper to one side and when you think...ummm that would be useful, write it down, if you can't get out then send a Friend or your man on a mission and he can get them for you. If your bottle feeding you need sterilizers and bottles, if breast feeding you need breast pads and a good nursing bra. Speak to you midwife, she will be very supportive and be able to put your mind at rest. Try and relax, good luckxx

If you have bought the basics on your own. Then you are in good shape. Some one will most likely throw a baby shower for you. Then you will be able to fill in the gaps with the gifts you and baby will receive. If there will be no shower, then most likely you will receive gifts from relatives and friends after baby is born, this happens sometimes. Again, you will be able to fill in the missing pieces. In the meantime, instead of fretting over what you may have missed. To ease your mind, start making a list. Jot down items as you think of them. Since you have a good set of basics to start with, you and baby can go on a shopping spree with your list to celebrate your baby's first day out in the public.

I had my first child at 20, he just turned 22 and my daughter is 19. It is exhausting, wonderful, frustrating, and so many things that worrying about missing something is not worth it.
Treat yourself to naps, hair, nails, pedicure. A night on the town.
After the little one comes, you lucky you get a shower every few days!
I do hope you have a great support systen, that is very important. I didn't but I'm tough and we grew up together. They are in college, and working, my son calls almost every night, he's in VT. My daughter is on her way over to help me, I broke my leg, the Fib and Tib in 3 places. he drove through the night, and when I woke up he and his sister where there for me.
You can be a great mom, or a loosey one at any age. If you get frustrated call someone.

Hmm, baby bath tub, wash clothes, hooded towels, baby wash, baby lotion, diaper rash cream, infant tylenol (skip the 1 am trip to the store for a fever), infant nail clippers, nasal aspirator (booger sucker lol) and thermometer. Those were some smaller things I spaced and found out how IMPORTANT they are!! Other things that weren't mentioned (so I don't know if you have them or not) are infant hats, no scratch mittens, sleep positioner, crib/pack n play sheets, waterproof mattress pads and burp clothes. Good Luck!!

well im 30 weeks along, if you still havent the car seat and stroller i suggest the graco metalite, with the safe seat, its great, because its an infant carseat theat goes in the stoller just as normal, but its made so the child can use it up to a year!!! how convienient!!! and the stroller only weighs 18 lbs, which may sound heavy, but comparitivly speaking an average stroller weighs 25 lbs!!! its great, itsthe heirloom collection, great for boy or girl!!!
