I'm guessing that you mean in live together as in a relationship, and not like roommates. Well, I don't know about the US but in most countries people tend to live together after the love fades away for the sake of kids, the ease of life (as opposed to starting all over again - as someone just said), and cultural influences (people who divorced are somewhat looked down upon).

Personally, if I'm not bound by any commitment I'd not want to be in a relationship where the love has faded. But if all is well, life is good, both still like each other and respect each other, I don't see why you shouldn't live together.

People can live together for all sorts of reasons, some of which are just convenience and finance - not everyone wants love, they are more interested in comfort. Or they can find it hard to let go and move on after a relationship has really ended.

Hmmm, you can love your partner but be a million miles away from being 'in love.'

Also if you are married with kids, you might love your family as a whole, even if you are not sure that you love your spouse.

I lived with room mates simply because it was a lot cheaper to share rent/bills. I certainly wasn't in love with them, and sometimes I didn't even like them.

Sex.

That's all I can think of.
