It is just fine to let them eat until they are full. It is not, however, fine to leave the extra crickets running about in the cage. Make sure you always remove the leftover crickets and do a thorough search to make sure you got them all. Crickets can very quickly turn your lizard into a meal of their own if left there. It is amazing what a cricket's bites can do to a lizard.

This always happens with my Gecko.
I find its better to feed about 4 crickets, then miss a day then feed another 4 crickets the next day. Once your Lizard is hungry the food will be gone in seconds.
If your Lizard eats the 4 Crickets in one go, then i'd maybe add 1 or 2 more.

get to know how many crickets your lizard likes to eat and attempt to feed that many at a time. Crickets can bite your lizard so leaving them in would be a no.
You could try feeding him locusts instead as they are harmless to the lizard. I leave locusts in with my water dragon all the time with food for the locusts as well. It does depend on what type of lizard you have though as to whether locusts will be suitable.
Try and talk to someone it your pet shop about locusts as they dont make noises, dont bite the lizard and are calmer and easier to handle than crickets. I dont believe there are any nutritional disadvantages either.

Because when you buy crickets from the pet shop, they haven't fed them well so it's basically like feeding your lizard cardboard.
Wash some lettuce and feed it to your crickets, they'll stay alive for about a week - then feed them to your lizard.
He should eat more because they're a lot more tastier.
Good luck with him.

Firstly try not to feed him to many crickets at once because they will bite and cause him distress. Secondly, put potato/carrot peelings in with the crickets for a few days, or a week as they have often been left in the petshop for to long and are nal-mourished. Personally, i dont feed any of my lizards crickets. Grasshoppers or worms are mush easier and they seem to enjoy them more. Hope it helps!!!

no your not over feeding them, my daughter had one and after it had it`s fill there was usually some crickets left but after a couple off days she would take the unwanted ones out that's if her lizard had`nt eaten them, just make sure you don`t do what she did, she must have left a little gap in the tank and the crickets were all over her house, it was so funny,

Lizards should only have 3-5 when their young and remove any they have not eaten once the animal is approx 8mths stick to its conventional diet and only give crickets for a treat. leaving them in the cage will irritate his skin

as you dont mention the type of lizard its hard to give advice, but i will say DONT ANYONE LISTEN TO REDNECK/C and feed your iguana crickets, they are 100% herbivorous, any animal protien will eventually kill them.
you could also try using lobster roaches, they are much better for lizards than crix, and they dont eat meat so wont bit your lizard and they dont stink like crix do.

Hi, i have a Bearded Dragon named "Logan Wolverine" my son picked out the name. Anyways, I put Logan in a separate tank to feed him his crickets. I put his "salad" in his dish in his 'Home" tank but the crickets are feed separately. He actually likes to go hunting for them.
