I dont mean bending the string. I've seen guitarists do it and its really low down the fret board.

Artificial harmonics... It takes practice to perfect this technique, but its obviously not impossible, LOL... Fret the string very close to the fret and hit the string muting it with your thumb right afterwards... This is the tricky part, you have to mute it right after you hit the note in the same stroke... Its a little annoying initially, but the more you work on it, the easier it gets... Try reading about "Artificial Hamonics" and even "Pinch Harmonics" on the internet as it would help a lot... Wish you all the best in your efforts...

If you are talking feedback, stand in front of the amp with the guitar and it will happen. If you are talking harmonics, lightly touch the guitar sting over a fret and pluck it. If you do it correctly you will hear the harmonics. You can also tune a guitar harmonically with this technique.

if you use a pick choke up on it so just the very tip of it along with a light touch with either one of the pick fingers and pluck it from behind the string played outward and you'll get a squeal that i think you're asking for. you don't need to bend a string. when you get good at it you don't need a pick. it's all in the touch my friend. i sappose billy gibbons from z.z. top is the best example.

It's Artificial harmonics, and it's a pain to master, but if you google it (or even Yahoo it, as we're on Yahoo answers) then it should all become apparent.

you mean harmonics? You barely hold the string and pluck it.
