I would say, it is probably people who just don't want to mess with them. I have an african grey, cockatiel, english bulldog and a boston terrier, and I love them all. Maybe they just have never bonded with an animal before. Although, I think some people are really afraid of animals, I have a neice that way, and she is 21. But, mine are like my children, and they mind alot better than most real children.

Well , there are several reasons:
1. Fear - They are afraid of animals or are afraid that they will catch a disease from an animal or be bitten, scratched or harmed by an animal.
2. Allergies - Some people have severe allergic reactions to animals because of the animal's fur or something naturally occurring with the animal.
3. Emotional problems - They lost a pet and haven't gotten over the loss. Seeing someone with a pet reminds them of their loss so they reject all pets out of hand to avoid facing that pain again.
4. Pets not allowed - They are not allowed to have pets where they live by their landlord
This isn't all of the reasons that a person would not like a pet, but it covers most of the situations.

Pets require a lot of attention and can be a problem if you are taking a trip. I wouldn't trade my pets for anything in the world, but to each his own.

I like OTHER peoples pets, I just don't want the responsibility of taking care of them. I raised two children, into adulthood, and have no desire to start that again. I do realize when THEY have kids, I -as a grandparent, will be involved with those children. Meanwhile, no thank you. :-)

Probably because it's too big of a responsibility for them. Pets are a joy to people who can handle them.

My brother is like that. He just doesn't want them near him. He doesn't want the hair on him and doesn't like to be slobbered on. He is just that way.

You didn't say they were allergic so I'm thinking you actually mean they just don't like them........., I don't care for people that don't like animals, they tend to be mean spirited in nature.
