It shows hope for the New Year, hope that things can change and get better.

Because we want to better ourselves but end up breaking them because we are eventually weak to pursue them. You do not need to wait for the new Year to make resolution, that is one's first sign of weakness.

a resolution is a goal you can break and still meet your resolution by the next year... it helps yourself in many ways, self esteem, confidence and stuff like that good luck keeping up

It is better to make a resolution and keep it for a while, than never to make it.

First of all GOOD for you not breaking your.

Secondly, it gives us human being a chance of hope to actually succeeding our goals in our lifetime even thor it might take us a couples of years to get it right..lol..

it's not to break them, it's because our dreaming minds want to believe that we can make up for all our mistakes and m=not make anymore. Human nature is to dream of being perfect, and set unrelistic goals to try to achive that.

Optimistic. It is necessary to concentrate on them, like a project. But, you realize, don't you, that when you say "we," you are speaking for others. Speak for yourself, please, and then you will be on safe ground. The past participle of the verb "to break" is "broken" ... yes?
