I'm thinking about the film Syriana and how they portray the US as interfering with the diversification of the Saudi economy so that they are dependent on the west and China for everything but oil and dates.

No, I'm not basing any opinions on movies, I'm asking you what you think about the US role in the Saudi economy. The reference to the movie was to shorten the question and give a context for the directors bias without explaining it in words.
And what is it I'm supposed to get over Eva? Political and economic intreague? Or your ignorant response?

The US government has much less influence in the world than its people imagine. To the extent that it promotes free trade in the world, it will promote the growth of all economies that participate in the world market . Free trade is the economic key and ending the domination of religion in the world will also end the need for war economies. The US government is not doing as well here. I expect it to do much better after January 2009 (whoever gets in).
