No it was just a side note...it will not do anything to bring peace...in fact it may have the opposite effect.

No, just the opposite. There was no violence while Saddam was President. He used the weapons sold to him by Britain, the US, Russia and France to keep the country strong politically in the region; but he also used secret police and torture camps to keep any opposition under control.
When America invaded Iraq, they took the lid off an explosive situation. There are 2000 years of rivalry between the Sunni and Shiite muslim communities, and now without Saddam they are free to fight their feud to the bloody end.

No,definitely not. Look at whats happened to his country since his execution.I fear for this country in 2007. Not only do we have to worry about the threats of terrorism from ALL nationalities,we also have to worry about a backlash from Saddam's supporters. Bush and Blair should hang there heads in shame.

Absolutely not - now the moderate sunnis will be more extreme and the civil war is now really on!!
The execution was more of a trophy of war but the cost was 3000 American lives and thousands of Iraquis and we are supposed to be civilized???

Don't truly know the answer but Bush wanted him dead, now he is dead. When will it be his turn?
We built our empire by the same methods as any other conqueror. Should we not have let Saddam do the same. If the answer is NO then who is going to stop the present empire builder.

I do not believe so. Iraq is always fighting with someone. How long has it been since they have been at peace with the world, let alone their neighboring countries??

All it's done is made a load of people celebrate. It's not stopping all the attacks and violence, it could even make it worse. As many of the people who are causing the violence liked it when saddam was in charge.

No. If it were that simple his arrest and conviction would have done the trick. I think his death came do late to be anything more than a gesture.

Considering that he was the US government's weapon against Iran, and all his weapons were provided by the US government, all it did was to warn those that bed down with the US government."Warning, don't shame daddy". G W will make you pay for it!
