A jeweller will clean it AND tighten the settings. Worth it, hey?

I use a small amount (1/8th cup) of ammonia to about a pint of hot water in a bowl. Soak the diamond jewelry for about 20 minutes. Get a soft toothbrush (that won't be used for toothbrushing again) and lightly brush the solution on the ring or other diamond jewelry and rinse with cold water. Works well with gold chains also.

QVC has wonderful, natural cleaners for all gemstones. Their Carribean Gem Cleaner is wonderful and has no harsh chemicals. The best way to clean any precious stone is with a professional cleaner. Your jeweler doesn't use gin adn vinegar for a reason.....you shouldn't either. Use something made for the job. You can also purchase an small ultrasonic jewelry cleaner for around $20 at stores. It's worth it to keep your precious investments looking marvelous.

You think vinegar and gin are mad. Brown sauce is good as well - not sure why, I've tried it!
I've also used Milton sterilising fluid - worked really well....
My jeweller advised me to bring it in anytime but the last time I did, they advised that they now charge for cleaning, which is fine every couple of years but for a quick clean try any of the above!

Our local jeweler does not charge to clean jewelry. The jewelry sparkles more than if you did it at home, He also will check the settings. My wife did loose her diamond once and fortunately was able to find it, she hadn't been getting her ring cleaned as often. If she had the jeweler would have noticed the setting was getting worn on one side. Even if you have to pay a few dollars to get your jewelry cleaned, it could save you from loosing your diamond and not finding it. Paying for jewelry cleaning is sort of like an insurance policy,

We bought a jewelry cleaning machine from the Internet. It has a steam feature as well as a place to put the jewelry cleaner liquid to soak the jewelry. Our jewelry comes out sparkling. I have also used ammonia in the past and a used tooth brush to brush the stone/s.

I worked for Jewellers in Bournemouth ,and the best way is to give a diamond ring for a cleaning to the jewellers, they will do it with steam , or clean it in hot water with washing liquid.
Best way ,adviced to me.

I've heard you can use toothpaste and a soft bristled toothbrush. My local jeweler cleans my rings and checks for loose fittings for free. Of course, if he has to do anything else, there is a charge.

You know what, i use warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush, it works like a bomb. Really try it. I use the same to clean my Opal rings and they always look lovely and clean. Not that i ever wear them, i don't like wearing rings, find it irritating. But try it. Good luck:))
