I'm fairly sure that what you have there is a female cardinal. Check this photo for comparison:

On the other hand, it might help to know where you live. I see green leaves outside. Is this a recent picture? If so, where are you? That will make a big difference in what it might be. Email me if you want (click my avatar, then my blue email link).

The quality of the pictures isn't the best so I'm only guessing. It looks more like a finch of some kind, either a Gold Finch or a Hawfinch, but if you say its as big as a Jay, maybe its an oriole. I can't tell because of the shade if its got patches of yellow, red, and grey or if its more of a solid color. Sorry, those are my best guesses

Looks like a finch of some sort. There are many types, try cross-referencing all the images at the Wiki link.

Its a female Cardinal. The bill is the proper color and size. The body color is correct. Its difficult to see the crest, but you dont always see a distinct crest and with the quality of the photos it may be there.

Need information on where this bird was seen, geographically. What country? State? region of the state?

It's a finch, they come in all kinds of colors. That's why some say that different types of finches aren't finches at all, but they are
