It is a milestone no doubt. i am not overjoyed, i wish the man had never existed, but for sure, the world is a better one without saddam. iraq should be one of the richest nations in the world, but its leader oppressed the people, squandered its riches, and expended its resources.

the fact that this action was carried out by the iraqi government itself is a milestone. sure they have a long way to go, but it was important to rid the world of this menace so the iraqi people could move on.

In the course of history Saddam's execution is no big deal. So, it wasn't joyful, and it wasn't a milestone. It was just another minor incident in the progress of time.

Maybe not joyful, but necessary and satisfying.

He was a monster, and he got more of a chance to defend himself than he gave many of his victims.

He was brought to judgment by his own people - the same people he tortured, killed and otherwise oppressed.

Why am I happy? One word: JUSTICE.

Absolutely not. Executing him will fuel even more hatred and violence in Iraq. Especially since someone was stupid enough to post a video of his hanging that captures Shi'ite officials taunting him before they executed him. The man is even more dangerous dead than he was alive.
