Okay, about two hours ago, my husband got up out of bed to use the bathroom. A minute later I heard a big crash and I ran to find him laying on the bathroom floor, not moving. I freaked out obviously! I woke him up and checked him out, he could get up but was very dizzy and he wanted to get back into bed. I carefully got him there but he had broken out in a major league sweat. I dried him off, gave him a glass of water and he just went back to sleep.
He seems okay right now. He says that he was feeling dizzy in the bathroom and next thing he knows he woke up on the floor. He has a bump on the back of his head.
Does this seem "emergency room" worthy, (he really doesn't want to go) or should I just stay home from work and keep an eye on him. What would you do? Did he just faint or something?

Thanks guys, I have a horrible habit of overreacting to situations, especially when someone else's health is in question. I just needed someone to bounce this off of.

You should definitely make your doctor aware of what has happened but it's not uncommon for men to get light-headed and even pass out when they urinate first thing in the morning. It can be caused by a temporary imbalance. The biggest concern I have for your husband is the bump on his head. You should watch him closely for signs of concussion. My brother, father, husband, and neighbor have all experienced fainting while urinating. If you want to hear of other men's experiences, check out the web site below:

I actually have personal experience with this! It was scary for me i saw my husband standing up then the next think i know he fell over and passed out! Of course i rushed to his side and woke him up by talking to him he said his whole entire body hurt and asked me to call an ambulance! I was so worried for him they took him to the emergency room and ran some tests come to find out he like had some kind of mini heart attack i dont know the correct wording they said but it had to do with his heart. This happens about twice a year but yet he hasn't took any further steps like going to a cardeologist or however you spell it. He seriously needs to check it out i hate those "what if" questions it's bad for anxiety and i don't think you would be over reacting at all by calling an ambulance! This is the person you want to spend the rest of your life with my god that's scary what happened..

Go to the doctor. It could just be a legitimate dizzy spell, but he may have epilepsy, a circulation disorder (including stroke), or something else undetectable.

The sweat indicates that his body knows something abnormal is up, so it's not "nothing" as he may seem to feel.

The same exact thing happened to my dad this weekend. My mom called 911 and he was taken to the hospital. They admitted him overnight for the flu. I would take him in so he can get thorougly checked out and they will be able to hook him up to an IV if he is dehydrated.

Okay you shouldn't be asking us, you should be calling 911 or force him into your car and take him to the ER NOW!

i think you should take him to the doctor...it may seem just a simple fainting but it isn't worth risking it...he may not want to scare you so don;t listen to him and get going..!!i hope it s nothing worse!!!good luck!!!

go to the doctor!
its better to for him to swallow his pride and be safe, better than being sorry. its probably nothing but its better to be safe as he could have an underlying illness.
