Thick leather,

common sense tells you to take lightweight Goretex, but snakes and other nasty little things are less likely to harm your common sense if you tread on them wearing thick heavy shoes.

try to get a heavy rubber sole, that will keep your feet dry, a high lenght boot, that covers the ankle, and a removable cushion insole, so if they get wet, you can dry them easily.

Any jungle is different so are the boots you need for it. As my experience they need to be waterproof but let the foot breathe so I suggest Gore tex fibre with a tough sole to avoid feeling stones or branches under and also high enough to support the ancles.
If you need to walk on mountains for long I suggest a soft plastic boots with internal separate shoe so to be worn in the tent. There are some in the market (not many) with softer sole easier for long walking and not only for snow and ice climbing.
Sorry for my english but it is not my mother language.

Boots. leather. The high ankle army ones are the ones you want. And while you are buying them from your local surplus store or market, make sure they fit as comfortably and as near to your exact foot size plus a good army sock as is possible (the looser the boot, the bigger the blister) And get some puttees (they will close the gap between the boot and the trouser opening. (you will want to keep out leeches, snakes, spiders and so on, )
What on earth makes you think I've done that before?
