Today many families are poor. There are thousands of families living below the poverty level and thousands of children go to bed hungry here in the USA. Some only get meals at school because they are free and some go hungry when there is no school. Millions of families are just 1 paycheck from being poor...homeless or at the point of loosing hteir housing. Lots of people aren't educated and they remain in low paying jobs, without any benefits trying to survive. Others become sick and can't pay the bills and loose all they have and become poor bnecause of their circumstances. Over 50% of the world's populations live with under $1.00 a day. That is incredible and very disheartening. Most families have two incomes to have what they have. If one income is gone because the husband leaves, gets sick or the wife gets sick the style of living is drastically changed. Some people are born into poverty and know nothing else and don't seenm to care. Others are thrust into it and have a hard time coping. The cost of medical care, drugs and food and housing is more than a lot of people can afford. We have housing for those folks, sometimte if they haven't had bad credit problems, then they have a problem. I think some people are lazy and are poor because of that and many others are in situations, with children and no babysitter and no money to pay one and no education snd no way to get above their circumstances. So, it is both. If one looses their job and the other becomes sick, you have a no win situation and you become poor real fast.

Nobody is poor. Some people are perfectly happy with not much at all to live with. You need to travel to other countries where material goods is not always considered a top priority. So, depends on how you define poor. And it is not lack of motivation. Some people who you think poor might think you are poor in a lot of ways. Get some real education and change your thinking.

That's a *uc*e* up question for the New Year. Regardless of the fact of education, drugs, alcohol or IGNORANCE not every one becomes poor that way, some of us just never had the luck to be raised with a family that already is wealthy so we grow up trying to do our best to break the cycle but when that does happen we have to look out for our family that didn't get that chance.
HAPPY NEW YEAR......give more expect less

Personally, I like being poor much better than having lots of money. When you have money, everyone wants it especially the government and if you don't give it to them they react in a not-so-nice way. Being poor gets them all off your back. I own two businesses and I look forward to the day I am free of that burden.

"There are many different reasons why each individual becomes poor:"
*Personal problems
*Lack of education
*Domestic voilence
*Alcholism
*Drug addiction
*Mental illness
*Poor work habits
*Lack of social skills
"But the main reason people become poor is economic. There are people with each of these problems who are still housed. They or their families have the economic resources to deal with mental illness, alcoholism, etc. No one becomes homeless just because they have problems. They become homeless because they don't have the economic resources to dealing with their problems."

I don't believe it is from lack of motivation at all. Most live paycheck to paycheck you lose your job for any reason and it is very easy to become poor. I also believe that becoming poor happens from a result of not enough education to compete with college grads. If you live paycheck to paycheck you can't afford to go to college and you canno't get that good job,no matter how much you excel at your job. Lack of motivation has nothing to do with it.
