I really like floppy disks because you can store files on them and delete files, and use the disks over and over. Is there a CD that works like a floppy disk? The CD's that I use all end up being read-only disks. They are very annoying. I want to be able to store files on a CD and delete them just like I would with a floppy disk.

Make sure you have a CD-RW drive too otherwise your drive will say there is no writable disk.

Alternatively, why be stuck on CD? Go out and buy a USB drive (stick drive, thumb drive or whatever you call them) and plug it in... and use that instead. It's tougher too and works on any computer with win98SE or newer, MAC or most Linux.

Yes, and they can hold tons more data than floppy disks. You first need to determine if your CD drive can write as well as read (most can) and if your drive format is + or - or both. Most are one or the other.

Next you need to decide what kind of disks to buy. You can get cheap ones that can be written to one time. Once you copy files to them, they are closed for future writing. Inconvenient, but these can be as cheap as 5-10 cents each!

Rewritable disks are more expensive, generally 50-90 cents each. But they can be used over and over.

When you write to rewriteable disks, you have the option each time you close it to lock it from future writes, or leave it "open" for writing again and again and again.......

I have a suggestion. Have you tried using a USB flash drive (sometimes called a thumb/pen drive)? It is even smaller than floppy disks so you can take it anywhere. I've been using one for 2 years now and I take it anywhere I go (for storing pictures). There are 256kb, 512kb, 1Gb, 2Gb, 4Gb capacities available in the market.

Just make sure the CDs that you purchase are "rewritable". This will allow you to take files on and off of the CD freely without anything being stuck on their permanently.

Get a CD-RW disc, you can erase data and re-write data to them over and over again.

They generally cost a little more than regular CD-Rs, but like I said you can use them over and over again.

Buy a 5 pack at the store, they'll last a while.

You can buy CDs that are marked "RW" which stands for Read-Write. They can be overwritten not just written once.
