There are five seperate oceans and they are all different, so there isn't one big ocean
Atlantic - the second biggest, it is also the second deepest, and wil be the biggest in the future.
Pacific - biggest and deepest, it is actually shrinking and will disapear in the far future
Indian - will become smaller in the next 100 million years because Africa will split; right now the third deepest and biggest
Southern - technically a connection of all the oceans around Anarctica, sometimes called the Antarctic ocean
Arctic - the smallest ocean, and the shallowist, the ocean inside the arctic circle

the Southern or Antarctic Ocean is a fairly recent designation; when I was a kid those areas were only considered to be the southern portions of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian.

I would have to agree with the second answer. There is technically one ocean, then it is divided into geographical names. Example; The United States is one Country, divided into different geographical names/States.
