In Star Trek, what was the reason for the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor?

I seem to remember them doing it because they wanted resources from Bajor. Is this correct?

Yes, they wanted to take all Bajor's resources and make the people into their slaves. Plus it had a good advantage point to put up a military post.
