The gauge goes over normal range then up to the red zone then back down to normal. Any other cruiser owners experience this?

Could be a thermostat, could be a coolant sensor or switch that controls the cooling fan. I've seen both cause this problem, and both are fairly common. Easy way to check the thermostat is to take it out, put it into a pot of water with a thermometer on the stove and heat the water to the t-stat opening temp (probably about 180 on yours) if it opens, it is working fine, if it doesn't open, it needs replaced.

Even if it does open, you may want to consider replacing it since you'll have it out, but this will tell you whether or not the T-stat was causing your problem.

If this is not the problem, it is most likely the switch that controls the cooling fan.

is there enough coolant in the coolant tank? are by going up to red zone...do you mean while you are driving it heats up alot then when you stop it gose backe? if thats the case you could either be low on coolant or have a leak.

if its just going up and then back down then there is a electrical issue and could be a sensor... either way take it to a dealer.

If you have checked levels, and they are normal, it sounds like you have a thermostat that is opening late. Have it replaced and see if that solves it.

I SELL ALOT OF COOLING FAN ASSEMBLYS. DOES IT GET HOT WHEN STOPPED OR DRIVING SLOW THEN COOL OFF WHEN DRIVING FASTER? IF SO I WOULD SUSPECT THE FAN IS NOT WORKING OR IS TURNING TO SLOW>>>>>>>
