Because by the time a child is a teenager, their parents should have taught them how to properly behave (fights) and how to deal with "bad people" the best that they can. You cannot protect them forever.

Why leave your house every day when there are bad people that could steal you or cause problems?
Life is all about being responsible. Teenagers as they approach adulthood need to start learning to take responsibility for themselves. Other people don't cause anyone to be in a fight, if you're in a fight its because you chose to be. There are some (rare) times when it's justified, but it's still your own choice.

Teenagers are usually the bad ones causing the fights...at our local mall no one under 17 is allowed in without someone over 25 accompanying them.

because they should know right and wrong by then. what are you going to do, keep your kids in the house until they are 18? children get stolen out of front yards too. our mall doesn't even allow children until the age of 16 in the mall without an adult. not because they are afraid that something will happen to them, but because they hang out there all day, cause disturbances, and never buy anything.

there are bad people a lot of places. You cant just shield them. Teens are old enough to deal with them. And fights? I havent seen fights at the mall.

I am not a parent of teenagers, but there are bad people everywhere-we wouldn't leave our homes if we had a phobia about that. Unfortunately, many of us have bad people in our homes, too-either knowingly or unknowingly. Why blame just the mall?

Teenagers have to start growing up sometime, If you cant trust us to go to the mall what can you trust them with? I go to the mall with my best friends all the time, we never cause trouble, nobody ever bugs us. I suppose it is smarter to go with friends if there is really cause for concern. Safety in numbers afterall

I've often wondered this myself. They aren't necesarrily bad people just immature and well...stupid. We were all teenagers once and we ALL acted stupid in one way shape or form. Just seems today's teenagers lack discipline and accountability. Dropping them off at the mall seems to be today's parents form of babysitting and its sad.

You first need to find out if you have trust in your teen. Then when you feel that you have enough trust in them, then if they do something bad then it will be their conchense thats buggin them. And plus teens just wanna ave fun. (let em go, but make sure that you trust em.)
