Sons dog pooped on MY bedroom carpet, cleaned up OK with vinegar and seltzer water but area is now faded. Obviously not colorfast.

I don't know of anything that will restore color, but an option is to treat the entire carpet with the same process so it all matches.
So sorry . . . . Forgive the son, keep the dog out of the bedroom. I have 4 teens. We're in this together.

This happened to me once, and the carpet was brown so I used a permanant market to color in the spot. I'm a renter so it had to be done that way. Otherwise, if it's too bad, you can always cut the piece out and put another sqaure of carpet in if you are a home owner and have extra in your garage or something.

yes you can buy cans of carpet die. they are spray cans all different colours and you just spray it on and it is then re coloured.
some hardware stores may have this i forget where i bought it .
try hardware carpet and fabrick stores.
the stuff cost very little and covered a large area.
