I think I see where WWE is going with this. On New Year's Revolution, John Cena is slated to defend the title against the "undefeated" Umaga. (Note- Umaga is not actually undefeated..he lost to Kane at a house show in South Carolina.) They have Cena lose to Keven Federline (because of Umaga) to show how 'dangerous' Umaga is to Cena's title reign. Of course, on New Year's Revolution, Cena will someow find a way to beat Umaga, thus ending the "undefeated" streak of Umaga.
So, no, I don't think John Cena got screwed over at all.

I think Jerk Cena got just what he deserved
One buster lost to another another buster he didn't get screwed,
wrestling fans are screwed as long as this non talented chump is still champ
