It seems to me that a lot of people who use this site don`t have a good word to say about anything or anybody
is it politics and the media that are turning people bitter and spiteful
or is it this site that brings out the worst in people who are not usually the way they come across on here?
or is that the way they really are ?

For example
a question the other day was
Should there be compulsory euthanasia for old people so we don`t have to pay for them out of our tax .
and people were saying yes

A thumbs up for that. Many people are brainwashed into thinking that they are doing better or are better than they really are. Pity.

It's sad, but very true. Their are a lot of people on the Political forum that are horrible. I also feel some don't even know how to acknowledge that this happens.
(Like one person who answered, who asked for examples. What is he blind? You just have to read all the questions to see the nastiness of people on this site. Then open a few of them to get the vileness that goes on in the political forum.)
And the good well thought out questions get plowed under by the horrible vile questions.

It's probably because they are anonymous to the questioner and can say anyhting (within reason) that they like. They wouldn't have the guts to give the answers some do in a face to face situation. Being unknown to the person seeking help, or whatever, they can get their kicks by being spiteful, nasty, or downright rude without any fear of reprisal. In short they are usually bored, ignoramouses with nothing better to do.

Perhaps it's a sign of the times we have leaders & politicians who lie and cheat and only seem to care about how much they can make out of the system, and whats in it for them,
So how do you expect other people to react when we are governed by corruption and bigots.
When will there greed turn around and kick them all where it hurts them the most,
This sets a very low standard for mankind!!!!!!!!!!
It is very sad that it has become like this and i for one don't like it.

In the stream.-- Mighty waters draw much stone and rubble along with them; mighty spirits many stupid and bewildered heads.
from Nietzsche's Human, all too Human, s.541, R.J. Hollingdale transl
many statistics will show an overwhelming majority of the US population dont know enough about politics and events to have any kind of understanding and a willingness to offer opinions with a lackluster understanding is the culprit coupled with a overall lack of education.

The personal anonymity of this site means that anyone in a bad mood can let fly with no fear of consequences or retaliation. I can sit here and tell the world that my boss is a stupid idiot who really should be taken away by men in white suits before he sexually violates a baby - and nothing will happen to me - I wont loose my job - and I wont be sued for libel. Such freedom goes to peoples heads sometimes, and they have no hesitation in displaying the nastier side of their nature . And we each and every one of us has a nasty side - but rarely show it in public where we can be held accountable.

I think politics in general attracts nasty and spiteful people. Look at the parties and the talking heads who support each. One is worse than the next.

That is because there are a lot of spiteful people out there who have been brought up to think about themselves and noone else. I would say just ignore the horrible people because there are some nice genuine people on here too.

Some responses are certainly less than generous. I also notice that many legitimate and thoughtful questions and answers get a thumbs down.I put it down to reactionary youth. But I've got to say that, because I'm an old git.

I woud have preferred some examples to have been able to comment accurately. I take the view that dependent on the subject matter, many who refuse to confront the truth invariably turn out to be nasty and spiteful in their responses.
The TRUTH however, is NEVER spiteful or nasty.

People are just too stressed and frustrated.
They need a cuddle, a nicer work boss (and some less worrisome news in the press, that's the medicine).
