Gun Smoke was the show and James Arnez was the sheriff who had Kitty as a friend or maybe a little more .
Always expected Matt to go for it but never did in public . A politically correct sheriff in his day every one knew she was Matts woman and know one messed with Kitty .

I thought long and hard on this and I measured up all the canidates like, Herman Munster, and Robert Barrone, but they were not just right, according to my TV yard stick, the answer should be Marshall Matt Dillon played by James Arness. But I could be wrong by an inch or two you never know, depends on if you count his hat or not, plus he was the only one with a Red head in his show.
